What we do... and why...

The tennis club is an organization of students that range in skill level from beginners to former high school players to competitive USTA 5.0 players. We practice three times a week and compete against each other in a ladder during the fall and spring semesters. We also travel and play matches against other tennis clubs from other schools and compete in tournaments. During summer semester, the club is inactive.

We have a lot of fun on the trips. During the fall semester, we try to follow the football team. For example, during the Fall 2005 semester, the team traveled to Durham, NC to watch our football team play Duke University. We also played Duke's tennis club team.

In the spring, the club hosts an annual invite tournament with schools such as Clemson and UGA usually attending. We also send a team to compete in the USTA Southern Section and National tournaments. In March of 2005, the National tournament was held in San Diego, CA.

Joining tennis club is a great way to compete locally with other Tech students, to meet other players at your level to hit with around campus, and to play competitively against students from other schools.

Priority for trips is based on available spots, skill level, and practice commitment. Dues are $35 a semester or $50 a year.
